Earthmerlin
I have a 3rd grader in public school who's decent at math. We are a math-loving family & it's one of her favorite subjects. The current issue seems to be performance anxiety on timed tests & practices. She resists playing a school recommended app (that times & scores her on multiplication facts). While I may not agree with timed arithmetic tests at this age, they seem here to stay (& started in late 2nd grade). I do not want to undermine the school's (& district's) use of them but I also (& more importantly) don't want a math-phobic kid. What do you say to a sensitive, worrisome, & perfectionist kid in this situation?
