Porridge
Hello, I am thinking of moving away from FLL to something that my child can do more independently. I'm looking at Rod and Staff. We are part way through FLL3 (lesson 75) -- should we start in Rod and Staff level 3? 4? Thank you! Edited July 13, 2016 by JHLWTM
MyLittleBears
You can start at grade level in any of those books since they all start from the beginning. If you dc was older with no previous grammar at all say 6 or 7 grade then I would say begin in the 5th grade book.

SilverMoon
I'd start R&S at grade level. So if your signature is correct the 8yo should start the 3 book. She very well could probably start in the 4 book, but the middle school books get pretty serious and challenging; I wouldn't take a chance on her also being ready for those a year early unless she's generally advanced across the board. I'd also start out doing the lessons very interactivity, and transition to more independence over time. That'll let you gauge how much that DC is ready for and comprehending.
Jane Elliot
If you're trying to work toward independence, choose the lower level. This way your child isn't trying to learn the format and structure of a new textbook while trying to learn brand new content and material.
