AMJ Posted October 29, 2013 Share Posted October 29, 2013 The other day I was at Barnes & Noble and picked up (along with what I was there for) a Barnes & Noble Classics paperback of Selected Stories of O. Henry. This evening I was getting around to looking for one of my favorite stories, The Ransom of Red Chief, and turned to the Table of Contents page: Table of Contents The World of O. Henry and His Stories ix Introduction by Victoria Blake xiii SELECTED STORIES OF O. HENRY 1 (ah, here we go!) Endnotes 403 Inspir---- (Wait. WHAT?!?) The back of the book said it had 45 of his stories. 45 stories in 403 pages, and they didn't enumerate them in the Table of Contents?!?! AAARRGGHH!!!!!! :cursing: Leafing through it further on my way to my computer to type this I find a second listing, on pages 3-6: Contents The Plutonian Fire 7 The Princess and the Puma 14 By Courier 21 ... Oh, okay. That's better. Ah, my old friends!
