I have a portable hard drive but I want something online because even portable hard drives do not last forever and if there was a fire then I don't want my pictures lost. If your computer crashes, they can send your photos/videos/documents in one file to your new computer. That actually did happen, so I have (somewhere) a file with all of my previous pics. Haven't accessed it yet, but they are here somewhere. I'm happy with it, but would be open to other options. I also use Walgreens as a storage; if you order at least once per year, you can have as much storage for free. They recommended NOT to use it as a backup service though, as they can't guarantee something won't happen to their server (which I think some of mine have disappeared in the past).
