history_junkie
I'm throwing around some ideas for a possible class I would teach from my home, so I'm coming to ask for some help from the Hive. I'm thinking about doing a one semester writing and government course. I prefer to teach writing along side history, and choosing government would give families flexibility if they don't all happen to be on the same track for history. The writing assignments would be based on reading assignments. I'd love to incorporate some primary source material as well as a text. We would be able to stop and address interesting current events that come up (i.e. a unique Supreme Court decision or an election). Writing assignments would focus on critical thinking and style. Possible essay topics include: What is government? What is a Biblical view of government? Compare/contrast the U.S. govt, to another system... The course would incorporate revision to hone writing skills. Would this type of class be interesting to you? If your child was taking this class, what would you like to see in it? Thanks for the help!
