knit247
Long story short, I would like to know if it's possible to have a sixth grader who adores science (unlike her mother) to go through all six elementary Apologia books in one year. I bought three books to start, plus the workbooks (which she will love) and would like to know if it's even do-able. FWIW, I will be teaching my 3rd grader starting with the botany book as soon as it gets here. I won't make this mistake again :001_huh:
....
My oldest kids worked through 4 of the textbooks in less than 2 years (all 3 zoology books and the botany book). But, we took our time and they're also science nerds. :tongue_smilie: So, 6 textbooks...12 months...2 months per textbook? Yeah, I think she could do it if she REALLY wanted to. She would have to work on it every day. She would probably need to divide up the chapters in each book to figure out how many she needs to cover each week to meet her goal. Why the rush? Does she want to start General Science in 7th?
Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
Do you plan on the books to be just read or all activities and notebooking to be done? Just read, yes. Otherwise I would take 2 yrs to do it. These books are too good to rush through.
knit247
TY both so much! I will let her go at her own pace and see what happens. I want her to get as much out of them as possible, so taking some time might be exactly the right thing to do.
...................
It's possible but I don't see what the benefit would be. Withoyt notebooking and discussion she's Likely to retain less. If I were you I'd start with the two she's most interested in, and go from there.
