Michelle in MO Posted July 7, 2008 Share Posted July 7, 2008 website (here's a link---scroll down to find out more information about the scores), a 6 would be an outstanding essay, a 5 would be very good, etc. If you scroll down, the website gives descriptions for each of the scores. It sounds like there are two readers for each essay. If the scores are not averaged, then I would think anywhere from a range of 8 (two readers, both giving your paper a 4) to a 12 (perfect!) would be a good essay. It sounds very similar to how the SAT's are scored, except the students are given 25 minutes for the SAT prompts and 30 minutes for the ACT prompts. HTH!
