Not very classical of me, I know but my daughter has requested a year of Geography and Culture rather than history. I've looked at Lightening Lit's packages for World Literature but they recommend it for 11th / 12th and I'm wondering if the reading / writing might be too heavy. What books would you have a 9th grader who is interested in Geography/Culture (particularly non-western) read? I don't shy away from difficult topics but if the book contains violence, rape....
