European History - Any suggestions for a spine?

Recommended Posts

I don't want anything too hefty, as I plan to add lots of supplemental reading. I want something mainly to use as an outline and to fill in any minor areas.

Edited to add......I'll also take any suggestions for good literature and biographies.

This is for my 9th grade dd. She's a good reader, but reads very slowly, as she's very thorough (OCD issues).

Thanks!

We like the textbook recommended in WTM:

Short History of Western Civilization by John Harrison.

It is an older text and very readable; consecutive text without distracting sidebars, activities, stuff. Occasional black and white maps.

DD really likes the writing style.

Thanks! I'll check it out.
