Debbie in OR
We haven't done anything official but we are BIG on understanding the Constitution and our government, even with my ds9 and dd7. I would highly recommend Katherine Krull's book The Kid's Guide to the Bill of Rights to get you started. It might be a tad young for your 8th grader, but it explains things so well that it would be at least a place to springboard from. HTH! Julie in MN
We study it when we get to that point in history, but I just received an e-mail about using this as copywork. I thought it was an intriguing idea & am mulling it over. I know my older dd's 5th grade public school class memorized the preamble & it was quite memorable. Probably not much help :o) julie
LadyAberlin
Have you seen the book Applying the Bill of Rights to Real Cases? I think it looks interesting. http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=479302&kw=479302&en=froogle&p=1013824
Trivium Academy
http://www.nccs.net/constitution-week/a-more-perfect-union.html A friend and I split it- you get two packages for $19.95. We haven't used it yet but my friend will be using it with her 8th grader and I think we'll (3rd grader) watch the DVD. HTH
