Guest mom2sons
Hello, I'm very new at this and quite nervous, afaid I'll make a mistake. I'm looking for information about the use of interactive metronome at home. Has anyone done this? My son has developmental delays among some other things. would like to try interactive metronome at home and wonder what the success rate is. thank-you
JessicaLady
We've been doing interactive metronome during PT sessions. I think this is different than just using a regular metronome, which is what we use at home. We do some games: hit a ball on a target and catch, hopscotch, jumping jacks, all to a beat. In class we will read, counting by 2's, 5, etc, to a beat. Our PT explained that there's this theory that everything you do is done via timing (opening mouth to put fork in, going up stairs, responding to stimuli, and on and on). So, I guess you increase you work on your timing you increase your processing ability. IM is very exhausting. I've tried and am not sure how my son tolerates the 600 reps he does now, let alone how he'll reach his goal of 1500!
Mom22ns
We did two sessions of IM. It was hard and exhausting and very helpful for my son. We also did lots of metronome training at home. All kinds of movements, slap, clap, stomp, arrows, letters (left, right, up, down said verbally), and my ds is now an amazing DDR guy.
