ereks mom
Please suggest some Christmas-themed songs, stories, poems, plays, movies etc. that were written during (or about) the Elizabethan period. I also need some easy recipes for foods (preferably breads or baked goods) that were popular during this period. Thanks! ETA: Maybe I should have said the Tudor period, since that's a bit broader than the Elizabethan period only. KarenNC
Try these http://www.nmm.ac.uk/tudor-and-stuart-christmas/ http://elizabethan.org/compendium/63.html http://www.seatofmars.com/elizabethanchristmas.htm http://www.timetravel-britain.com/articles/christmas/feast.shtml The Gloucester Wassail: http://sniff.numachi.com/pages/tiWASGLOUC;ttWASGLOUC.html Looks like roast pork with mustard, turkey (introduced during the reign of Henry VIII), marzipan (marchpane), candied fruit, gingerbread would all be appropriate. For further, google "Elizabethan Christmas" or "Tudor Chrsitmas" or "Christmas Revels"---the latter is particularly good for music.
