Guest
Hi. We will start our Logic stage year soon and science is driving me nuts! I need a series that has been all done for me...experiments supplies included or they don't happen, easy on mom to prepare for, rather self-guiding, prefer secular, and will prepare them for high school science very well. They both want to be scientists later so we need something 'real'. I will sacrifice great science for tracking down supplies, if need be. Right now, we just started the RS4K Level 1 series. We like how the info is not dumbed down. Anything similar for olders? Level 2 looks like they would need to have algebra first. I have read about the Prentice-Hall series. What age can a child start these? I have looked at Singapore, BJU, Noeo, RS4K, Rainbow Science, Apologia, Oak Meadow, Common Sense Press, Sonlight...might be missing one. What has been your experiences with these? What would you recommend?
Guest Shaner
Have you looked at K12 - they have a good solid "canned" scope and sequence course but provide the materials as well. Our dd9 is doing their Science 3 (because of the lack of it in the ps) but the upper level Science 5 looks good.
Catherine
I have not used their middle school level materials, but their high school level ones are excellent. We did their O-level Biology last year, including labs in the kitchen, and my ds is now in ninth grade in a math-science magnet and doing great. Singapore science is very critical thinking-oriented, much like their math and I liked that aspect.
