Haiku
I just wanted to mention that one thing my kids have really enjoyed about learning about the Civil War is listening to Civil War-era songs on YouTube. For the past few days we have been looking up songs we have found listed in the book Civil War by Martin A. Sandler (a Library of Congress book for kids, which is very interesting and includes a lot of primary sources), and the kids have really gotten into belting them out at the tops of their lungs while saluting and marching in place. I think it will certainly be memorable for them! Tara

Kristiana
Singing the songs was one of our favorite Civil War activities as well! I think our favorite was The Battle Cry of Freedom. The Library of Congress performing arts website has quite the collection of sheet music and resources for the Civil War (as well as many other periods) to explore.
