justamouse
:ack2::cursing::banghead: I have this beautiful schefflera (no, not mine, but mine is about that big) and I put it outside on the porch for the summer. BIG mistake. it got a disgusting case of scales. Except it was worse. With mildew. And yuck. So I spent three hours washing every leaf down with a mild bleach and soap solution (because I read that it's tough to kill scales and that I might have had to toss the plant) so I figured that if it had to go anyway, why not try the bleach. I will never, ever, put that plant on the porch again. Has anyone battled scales and won? NO, we did not stick them under a microscope, that's like looking at dust mites. Nightmare OCD territory. livingnlearning
My mom washes hers with rubbing alcohol; if your bleach doesn't do the trick maybe try the alcohol? I'm not sure where she learned it but her father, my grandfather, ran a greenhouse in Santa Fe for forty years... It can be a pain to deal with, I know that! justamouse
Thank you! I'll do that, too. I'm afraid of it traveling so it's under quarantine. The Hive knows everything. :001_smile:
