eloquacious
... I just found this ancient post from my days as a PS "Language Arts" teacher. http://msteacherlady.blogspot.com/2005/09/grr.html I don't know for sure we'll be homeschooling past kindergarten, though I hope to... but at least for now I don't have to do state standards in my lesson plans according to some inane person's ideas of accuracy. :) Also, I don't have to call it Language Arts anymore. Wheee.
PollyOR
Isn't it nice to be the boss and do things your own way? :D
jeri
So much for clarity in language arts! (And no, it wasn't your writing; it was the obvious complexity of teaching children the art of our language due to administrative issues!) jeri
matchpenalty_2
Homeschooling is awesome! :001_smile:
reet3
I know what you mean. It is wonderful to choose. I have two sisters who are teachers in PS and the bureaucratic headaches for them are non-stop. Glad to be a hs for one, hopefully for 3 soon.
Hedgehogs4
I so agree with you. I really admire public school teachers. I have a very good friend who teaches in the D.C. system. She works about 70 hours a week, accomplishing so little it's heart-breaking. She cares so much about the kids, though--it's like a mission for her, even more than a job. Her kids are grown up, but she looks at my life and really admires me for what I do, as well--it's mutual respect. I honestly don't know how ps teachers do it...hs is "the shortest distance between two points"--Information from teacher to child's brain, unless there is an impairment or ld. Even then, it's so much more effective!
