mom2denj
I have an opportunity to buy a laptop fairly cheap. I have no idea how to check if it has viruses or not. Should I take it somewhere? Is there something I can run? I have no idea how much it would cost to have this checked out. Any advise?
Jayson
Definitely get this 100% free and trustworthy virus/spam/firewall suite from Commodo http://antivirus.comodo.com/ I have it running on all our family computers for a long time. No need to buy Norton or another paid virus checker and no need to take it to a shop. This software automatically updates itself and detects everything, even spambots. I suggest that you download it from your existing computer and save it to a USB drive, then install it on the laptop while the laptop is not connected to your home network. Get a full virus scan. Then you will be safe to use that laptop. If you want to try it and have trouble setting it up, let me know...
mom2denj
Jayson, thanks so much for your reply! I actually just dropped it off at a friends house and her husband is going to take a look at it for me. I am completely computer illiterate, so he is going to help me out. Thanks again!
