My3Boys Posted March 24, 2011 Share Posted March 24, 2011 I think you should be able to cook acidic foods in cast iron. Just don't store any leftovers in the pot. Extended contact with the cast iron will interact with the food. This is why I used enameled cast iron. You can cook and store food in the pan without any concerns. I would add, you can't cook over an open fire with enameled cast iron, or at least I've always heard you can't, so it might be a concern if you have a gas stove.
