battlemaiden
I need to take a meal to a family with 3 and 4 yr old boys with peanut allergies. I don't have the time or equipment to bake a dessert. What can I buy? Do I need to worry about peanut residue in store bought french bread? Thanks. Jo
Jennifer in MI
My peanut allergic child eats Oreos. Most packaged cookies will have an allergy warning under the ingredients that will say exactly what the allergens are - including if they're manufactured on the same equipment or same facility as the allergens. It's made it very easy on us! I would as the store about the bread. Our local bread store has allergy warnings on their breads. They are wonderful about answering any questions for us too. How nice of you to think of their allergies! Really - they'll appreciate it!
Cathy in IL
Regular Oreos (chocolate cookies with white frosting) are the only ones I trust for my son with peanut allergy. I would be cautious with the bread too just as Jennifer said.
