Catherine
My 9 yo ds is working through WWE 2 this year with me. He cannot narrate in the way the book encourages it to be done: with no details, summarizing, including only the most important points. But he's making progress. He could not narrate a section of a SOTW 4 chapter though. I've tried having him narrate them with questions first from me, with heavy prompting, and he can come up with an OK summary. But his comprehension of the SOTW chapters is not great, even after 2 or 3 readings. Can any of your 9 yo's narrate SOTW 4 well? If so, tell me how you guide and prompt them, or if you don't at all. Thanks.
Mallory
I think SOTW 4 is over the heads of many 9yo (at least it was too hard for us last year when my boys were 8 and 10, uggh we gave up ;)), for sure if he is still working on WWE 2. If you still want to use SOTW 4 for narrations, just have him do a paragraph or 3, not the whole section.
Catherine
Write them himself??? Umm, no. I write them for him. I appreciate the ideas, will try doing a shorter section.
