Joy at Home
We'll be starting in a couple of weeks. February is the best time to start here. We have five maples we'll be tapping. We tried last year but started too late (March) and didn't really follow through. I just bought some taps and are saving our milk jugs for buckets. Anyone else? Jeanne in MN
There are no maple trees where we live now, that we own, to tap, but I have in the past. February/March is an exciting time of year because of the maple tree tapping! I've always enjoyed it. Have fun!!
Woodland_Mom
We have 4 very large maples in our yard, but I know nothing about tapping into maples. Where can I go to get some good info to get started?
LostSurprise
Yes, but we rarely start until March. (Except last year. Spring was so early that none of us believed it and no one got any. Snow in April or May is not unusual here and you wait for the freeze after the first thaw to start tapping.) We still have 2 feet of snow so I won't think of it for another month or so.
