IPad Question / XPost General Board

We are thinking of having dd 15 use an IPad instead of a laptop for her schoolwork. One question - she is an avid photographer, and we are wondering what the possibilities are for her to edit photos on an IPad. Currently, she uses Photoshop on her laptop, but the laptop is just about dead. Does anyone have any thoughts?

While I am posting this response from the iPad, I would NOT want it to be my only tool for Internet and writing and editing, let alone photos. It's tedious. A new laptop will cost about the same and offer more flexibility of applications.

I love love love my iPad, but it's a real pain to type on and browsing the Internet can be frustrating. As an example, I was filling out applications for my kids. The one I did on the iPad took 20 mins; the one on the laptop took 3 mins.

 

I think the iPad really shines as a reader. Its not a laptop replacement.

Thank you both for responding. We have an ipad now...for dh and I. If we did get dd one, we would get the keyboard / docking station as well so that she could type more easily. However, i think our main concern is going to be the lack of photo-editing software for the iPad.

Cadam, thanks - that is a thought. Dd's laptop is dying, but not completely gone yet. We may be able to wait.
