I found this very interesting and thought it might be helpful to some here.

Hand-Clapping Songs Improve Motor and Cognitive Skills, Research Shows

Would you take up an activity, or encourage your children to engage in it, if you knew that it could reduce the risk of dyslexia and dyscalculia, improve cognitive abilities, social integration, handwriting and spelling and make you feel more focused and less tense?

Apparently all of the above is as easy as clapping your hands.

Some of the songs include bad lyrics. I was disappointed to find that my favorite clapping game as a child - Ronald McDonald - is not one that I want my girls to sing, but there are some good and cute one.

Youtube has some good videos of hand clapping games too.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I'm always a big proponent of good old fashioned play for youngsters and these hand-clapping activities fit the bill. I remember them well. I'm always interested in this type of thing and how these things help children develop.
