NeuroNet and IM

Recommended Posts

They are very different programs.

NeuroNet is based on occupational therapy, with individualized exercises using the body (often full-body) in a wide variety of ways. Some of the equipment includes balance boards, trampoline, posters, and I think even stilts.

IM is a computer set-up that measures timing in a variety of ways. You listen to a metronome and then try to clap in time to the beat, step in time to the beat, etc. The computer measures in microseconds how close you are to the beat and provides sound feedback by means of headphones to help you get closer to the beat and maintain that closeness. It was designed to stimulate motor planning, which it does very well. A side effect was noted of increased attention skills.

NN is a widely-based, comprehension program that is individualized. It works on considerably more areas than motor planning, including sensory integration and automaticity of skills in a number of ways (including word retrieval).

IM is a narrowly focused program that works primarily on motor planning and attention skills.

Both work on rhythm, timing and balance issues.
