mysticmomma
My 5 yo dd is bored with etc. We are only on book A and I don't know if it's the repetition, or because she already knows some phonics... should I skip ahead, or look into other curricula? Which do you recommend? Edited September 7, 2010 by mysticmomma
Mandy in TN
My 5 yo dd is bored with etc. We are only on book A and I don't know if it's the repetition, or because she already knows some phonics... should I skip ahead, or look into other curricula? Which do you recommend? Ds and I didn't like ETC. For K he used CLE Learning to Read Light Units 5-10, CLE LA1, and the 1st grade CLE Reader-I Wonder. If I had another I would definitely used CLE LTR and CLE LA1 again. It is an incredible foundation, but it wasn't really what I wanted to continue using. For 1st grade he used MCP Plaid Phonics C. This year for 2nd he is using MCP Plaid Word Study D. We plan to continue with MCP Plaid Word Study E next year. Plaid Phonics is more colorful, has a more polished layout, and covers more topics than a single ETC workbook. If you are looking for a workbook alternative to ETC, I highly recommend MCP Plaid Phonics. HTH- Mandy
