What are you using velcro for? We do a calendar and weather station, but I've just been using painter's tape for that. I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy velcro for all my calendar pieces or if a $3.00 role of tape is more economic. So what's going on with all that velcro?? :bigear:

I used velcro for the calendar. It's easy to put the numbers on each day, and take off at the end of the month. Tape would be a lot more time consuming! HTH!

I suspect moms are using the laminator/velcro duo for workbox systems:) I used to make Evan-Moor file folder games and used velcro for the game pieces. Now I don't (too much work!) How about a pocket chart for calendars and weather station? They make some pocket charts specifically for this purpose.

I use laminating for lots of things... with three boys it's almost a necessity! ;)

As for velcro, I switched to the velcro dots because I couldn't get tape to work in our schoolroom (I think it's because our schoolroom is partly below ground level). I use the dots on our calendar, weather station, file folder games, etc.

The velcro is more expensive. So, if tape is working I'd stick with it!

I really love laminating and using velcro. Where do you find the best prices on velcro dots? The cheapest I found was Amazon, but I'm wondering if there is a better deal out there that I missed.

I just bought some at Discount School Supply. These are just the hook side, great for workboxes where you tend to need more hook side than loop. Here is a set of hook and loop that I thought was pretty reasonable. Shipping for just these two things was about $5. HTH
