We had seen The Lost Battalion (pretty gory, but my warrior son loved it) and then he read the book since the pigeon is the one who saves the battalion. Anyway, he really liked it, but I will say I had to prod him to get past the first chapter. I just read through a couple of pages, but I liked the quality of the writing.
