Tiramisu
I tried googling this and couldn't get a satisfactory answer so I'm turning to the Hive. Dh and the kids saved two moles, possibly young ones, from our dog last night. They stayed in an aquarium in our house over night, and then we were going to release them. This morning they seem lethargic and one may be dead. I don't know what to do. We can't bury it if it's not really dead but I don't really want to keep it very long to make sure, KWIM? Could they just be settling down for a sleep if they're nocturnal? I wonder if a child's stethascope would tell us anything. Now dd14 says they are both dead and the younger girls are sad. 2cents
Yes. Moles do play dead if they are frightened or cornered. I've rescued a few (not sure why though :glare:). The best thing to do would be to find some dense underbrush, away from other animals or traffic and let them go. They won't survive well in captivity. Tiramisu
Thanks for your help. The moles have been placed under a bush. It doesn't look good, though. Dd said one is stiff.
