Music appreciation (listening samples)

I'm looking for something that has samples of lots of different kinds of music--jazz, classical, folk, international, country, etc. I'd like ds to hear the differences between different types of music and be exposed to music that he might not have heard before. Any ideas where to find something like this?

I was going to suggest Pandora, but this is way better. Off to take off all the classical CDs from my Amazon wish list now.

I've looked at the site, but I'm having a hard time understanding the basic concept. (Sorry to be so dumb.) Do I upload all the music I have in itunes and then I listen to it through a computer on the internet?

Both Swagshark and Pandora allow you to enter in an artist, song (maybe music type) and then it will play songs based on that. Pandora offers up similar artists you might enjoy and Swagshark just delivers what you wanted.

Back to the OP's question, is there a book or curriculum which outlines representative music (to then get from library, amazon, one of these internet sources)? I tend to play what I like but would be up for exposing my kids to more types than I own.
