BearWallowSchool
I've read multiple times that the Horizons Math TM's do not explain how to do the teaching. I was wondering if it is the same for the phonics and spelling? I don't need a scripted progam I just would like it to tell me what to do, KWIM?? :001_smile:

lisak
I used these several years ago with my older daughter... The best thing in both of these books is the phonics rules. I think they are laid out in both manuals and are laid out nicely. I remember copying them onto colored paper for reference. I think the phonics/reading TM has some comprehension questions and sometimes I referred to it for clarity for the workbook. You know when you think the picture is one thing and your word doesn't match the lesson; that is what I am referring to. They are not scripted. I don't remember much else about them. My younger daughter hated them because she is not a workbooky child and reading/la/spelling is just not her thing. I used a different approach when this did not work. Hopefully someone else will have some recent use of them to give you a bit more help. Lisa
BearWallowSchool
Thank you for your answer, Lisa. I was beginning to think no one used this product! :-) I guess I'm just wondering if the TM's are "useless" like I've heard the math TM's to be.
