Kate in Arabia
I had no idea until a couple of weeks ago that there was a stage show of Horrible Histories. There's a troupe visiting from Britain that is doing shows this week on WW1 and WW2, our local homeschool group organized a group to go so we could get the school rates. We went today to see the Woeful Second World War -- Blitzed Brits. We haven't gotten to that in history yet, but last summer I ordered basically all the Horrible Histories titles from Ray so I had ds 12 read the WW2 one to prep. The show didn't really follow the book, but I thought it was well done, engaging/entertaining and informative at the same time (which is like the books). It followed the story of two children evacuated to Wales, what life was like kind of thing -- rationing, etc.. There was singing, lots of scene changes, and the second half they had a 3D background screen so the bombs and planes (among other things) seemed to fly out into the audience. Kids thought that was totally cool. http://www.birminghamstage.net/shows/horrible_histories_world_wars http://www.ductac.org/whatson.html
