KJB
Can anyone suggest digital drawing software for a macbook? My dd is a pencil and paper amateur comic book artist and I would like to get her software so that she can learn to draw her characters on her computer. I am clueless as to what I should buy. I've ordered what looks like a terrific book to help her get started, but I think she's going to need software, too. Anyone?? Thanks! Crissy
A copy of Photoshop Elements and a Wacom Bamboo Tablet would be a great gift combination for your daughter!
Denise in Florida
My daughter has a Mac and loves to work on art projects. I second the suggestion for the tablet. We bought her one last Christmas and it gets a lot of use. I don't know which make or model it was, but we bought it at Best Buy in their Mac area. Crissy
You might also want to take a look at Aviary. It is an amazing (Free!) software. Just be sure to read the FAQ regarding permissions, use of images by Aviary, and how others access files. Storing her files on their servers might not appeal to you or her. There is a greater amount of control with their subscription service, and that's only $25 a year.

KJB
Ohh! The Bamboo Pen and Touch is so cool. Thanks again! I want one, too!! I may have to get one for dh so I can "borrow" it! :D
s.z.ichigo
I'm a little late here but I should recommend the Genius tablet. They're about $50 on Amazon and are much larger than the Wacom. I used to use Wacom (Im a freelance artist) and the jump in size is a definite plus. EDIT: I can also recommend a wonderful software called "Manga Studio Debut" It's a vector art program specifically made for comic book artists. The learning curve is a little high but would be good for an older teen. http://my.smithmicro.com/win/manga/index.html Edited December 2, 2009 by s.z.ichigo
