tdeveson
I'm teaching two co-op classes next Friday. I'm looking for ways to come together as a group at the start. Prayer is traditional, but that's not a good option for us. What activity do you plan at the very start of your meeting to get everyone into the right groove? :bigear:Thank you in advance for any ideas.:bigear:
smrtmama
Yes, definitely not appropriate to start a secular co-op class with prayer! I usually start with a little goofiness, invite them to get into the humor. We played a game called "fact or fiction" for my co-op writing class, which was essentially like "two truths and a lie." Pip
Well, I don't know what age group you are doing, but I am in charge of opening for our co-op. It is secular so we don't want to start with prayer. The kids range in age from 8-13 (we're just starting) but I plan on going over the rules for the first few weeks. I am planning on doing some logic games and puzzles from A Case of Red Herrings, spend a few weeks on American geography using state fact cards, doing some Mad Libs. You could do some sentences out of a Daily Oral Language book, some analogies. Don't know if that is much help. Good luck. It is hard to come up with stuff. tdeveson
These are great ideas and I only posted a few minutes ago. This place is an encyclopedia. I'd love to hear more ideas. Our group is third to sixth graders. I'm going to teach Biology in the morning, break for lunch, and do art/art appreciation in the afternoon. tdeveson
Yes, definitely not appropriate to start a secular co-op class with prayer! No, wouldn't do. Some of the old girls would go on tilt. :tongue_smilie: Did you know that the link in your signature is a dead end? The Internet gremlins have been in your sigfile.
