Cleaning Whiteboards

Recommended Posts

Appealing to your hive knowledge. I have whiteboards up in the facility that we use, and have been purchasing whiteboard cleaner. They have been using Windex. Is their reason to buy expensive cleaner?? Also, these are cut from Showerboard if that makes a difference...

Thanks!

I've always used our bottle of $.99 rubbing alcohol and it has always worked great!

I haven't used 'whiteboard cleaner' for my shower board/white board. I use rubbing alcohol. I pour it onto a small towel and wipe down the board. During the week, I just use an eraser made for white boards. I do the main cleaning at the end of the week. The rubbing alcohol takes off everything and makes the board nice and white again.

Hth...

Years ago when I had a classroom -- I had hubby install showerboard over my chalkboard to create a "whiteboard". Thru use, I discovered that no matter what cleaner you use, it will create a stripping effect on the showerboard. So that the dry erase markers become harder to erase over time. I recommend not using the cleaners so frequently. I used simple soapy water (soft rag) and paper towels to wash down my boards once a week. Did the windex once a month. Made the showerboard last for years!
