Is it too late to find an affordable cottage to rent -- simple, not fancy; on or very near the beach? We'd prefer to go someplace quiet & not overrun by commercialism. So does this place exist? I highly recommend Amelia Island (near Jacksonville). Quiet island with just enough to do. Lots of B&Bs. But plenty of other housing options too--condos, hotels, beach houses. Lots of pirate history there. We've been there twice. And of course if you don't mind driving a couple of hours north of there, we love Hilton Head, SC, and will be going in September. Good luck!
