BikeBookBread
I just finished, washed and blocked a crocheted cardigan. The yarn is 100% bamboo...beautiful sheen, gorgeous color. HIDEOUS cardigan. I've never worked with bamboo before and the people in my LYS didn't tell me just how much this stuff STRETCHES, or more accurately, how loose it really works-up. I'll never wear this thing. It just makes me look like I'm Quasi Modo...all long in the front and just completely unflattering. So I'm thinking about frogging the whole thing and re-using the yarn for an afghan or something that doesn't matter how loose it works-up. Has anyone else re-used natural fiber yarn after washing and blocking? If you are familiar with bamboo, do you think it would be worthwhile? The yarn was NOT cheap... LaxMom
I've re-used knit/blocked/worn wool without an issue. I can't imagine bamboo would be any different. (There are some things, like mohair, that can be a real beast to frog because of the halo, but that wouldn't apply to bamboo) Yeah, I'd just frog it and wind it into hanks. If it's really badly kinked, "block" it in the hank, then twist it up. Or, just twist it up anyway and see if the kinks work out.

After all this work, it's gonna kill me to do this, but I guess knowing that I'll never wear this monstrosity (looks like something "Maude" -- you know, that awful character that Bea Arthur played on that horrible 1970's sit-com -- would wear.)
