Laurie4b
I want to check info that I got from our insurance company. Two dc are traveling to 3rd world country. They're teens, and have had all vacc's on schedule. Last tetanus was 4 years ago before traveling. The insurance company nurse says because it's within 5 years, they wouldn't need a boost even if they got a nasty wound. (They will be doing construction so wound possibility is somewhat elevated.) Do you agree? (Family doc is requiring us to come into the office to tell us. I don't need/want the spiel on the other vacc's and can get the tetanus at the health dept., skipping $50 co-pay for an office visit). Perry
That's correct. Here's the recommended algorithm.
Laurie4b
Thanks. That's what the insurance nurse said exactly. It looks like they had about 5 tetanus type shots as part of their early childhood series, then a booster 4 years ago.
