Tiramisu
I will be travelling south into the DC area on I95 and then cut west onto route 66. Is there a better time of morning to go through that area? Just hoping to make this an easier trip if possible... Thanks!!!
amiechoke
I will be travelling south into the DC area on I95 and then cut west onto route 66. Is there a better time of morning to go through that area? Just hoping to make this an easier trip if possible... Thanks!!! How flexible are you timewise? I-66 westbound shouldn't be bad before 3PM, but I-95 generally sucks in the morning. Think of it as an inbound-outbound situation. If you can wait until 9AM to make the Baltimore section of the I-95 corridor, you ought to be okay, as most people should have reached their destinations by that point. Good luck! Tiramisu
Thanks for the suggestion about waiting until 9. I'd rather be later than be stuck in the worst of the traffic.
Kathy in MD
If you're on the beltway before 6:00 am, you should also be ok. Just be prepared to fly low to avoid being run over. Generally traffic is heavier at 9 than it is before 6, but 9:00 am traffic normally flows smoothly.

skaterbabs
When I head up to DC, I've found that if I leave Richmond around 5:30/6 am I miss all the heavy traffic and generally arrive at my destination around 8:45, just about the time the rush is getting bad. Kathy in MD
I just thought!!!!! If you're headed out on I-66 on a Friday morning and good weather is predicted for the weekend, leave early!!!!. One Friday morning it took my dh hours on I-66 because everyone was trying to get to the mountains early. The following Sat. I flew up I-66 because I missed the weekend rush.
