My ds16 has to read this over the summer. What do you all think of this book?

My children and I visit a local assisted living facility once a week and do a devotion and sing songs. My husband joins us if he's off work that day.

I like the looks of this curriculum, lots of great literature, plus some hands-on. It is a bit pricey, though. I'm considering Children Around the World for the year AFTER this upcoming school year, when my children using it would be 7.5 and 10. For those of you who have used this program:
Do you think CAW is a good fit for these ages? Why/why not?
Did you like the book selections for this program?
Did your children enjoy the hands-on activities?
Did you find it worth the expense?
Thanks in advance.:001_smile:

I just LOVE looking through their catalog, but I'm a bit confused by it. I can't find prices for grade level packages. Do they sell their items like that, as in like Sonlight sells cores, for example? Thanks in advance.

Like a pp mentioned, I also read Sweet Valley High. Yuck!:001_huh: I also read lots of Stephen King and V. C. Andrews. It's a wonder I'm not really messed up in the head now!:willy_nilly:

We're currently working on a rain forest unit study. When we're done (which I estimate will be by the end of next week), I'll post everything on my blog. We're really enjoying this study & learning a lot!:001_smile:

Well, I'm "pregnant" with paperwork, and my "due date" is uncertain.:tongue_smilie: We're in the process of adopting a little girl from China. She just turned one year in March, and we hope to travel by the end of this year to pick her up. Does this count?:)

I would find a secluded island somewhere, you know like on Nim's Island? Just me, some great books, some sunshine, the salty breeze, the waves crashing in.........I'll see you all later, gotta run!!!

I'm currently schooling my 1st and 3rd grader, and it usually takes us 3 hours to do school. This year my 1st grader is using Saxon 1, Sonlight Core 1, and Phonics Pathways. HTH!

:)I haven't used Singapore personally, but one of my good friends uses it with her dc, & they're gifted in math.

Saxon Math 2
Copy Work (mom chooses from variety of materials)
Draw Write Now
Possibly will play football, we haven't decided yet

Five in a Row Cookbook--working on those culinary skills!

Hello.:001_smile: I didn't see a place for introductions, so I hope this is okay. I didn't want to start posting without saying hello and introducing myself first. I've been homeschooling for 3 years & still trying to find our perfect fit curriculum wise. I own and have now finished reading The Well Trained Mind. I loved it and found it fascinating! I really like the idea of classical education. I have four children...ages 16, 8, 6, and 1 year. To give you more info., the one-year-old is a baby girl still waiting for us in China--we're adopting, obviously.:tongue_smilie: Anyways, that's who I am, so now I'll get on to some posting.
Saxon Math Meeting book
in K-8 Curriculum Board

I've used Saxon from the beginning, and we love it, but I HATE the meeting book! I'm considering not even purchasing one for ds6 for next year. He'll be using Saxon 2. What do you all think? Can we do without the meeting book?
