  1. Hi,

My son is participating in a 2nd grade AAU basketball tournament this month. He is required to show Proof of Age and Proof of Grade to play. I have his birth certificate for the Proof of Age, but I'm not sure what to submit for the Proof of Grade. Has anyone created their own report card for this requirement? Any other ideas? I'm sure we're not the first homeschoolers to play AAU!

    Thanks,

    Wendy

  2. I just don't get the new format for selling. I went to the Classifieds section and typed in BJU in the search function and nothing showed up! Am I doing something wrong? I even tried an advanced search for Bob Jones and BJU and still nothing. I previously bought a lot of things through the For Sale forum and this new one seems very user unfriendly!

  3. Have you checked this website?

I just copied the ISBNs and then looked them up on half.com and amazon. I bought the 2009 textbooks and found the Guided Reading Workbooks there also. I also bought the Discovery Channel School DVD Library and the Lab Activity DVD Library for reasonable prices. I haven't heard anything about the Student Express CD-Rom, maybe I should check it out.

    Hope this helps!

  5. I had my oldest do every problem and we got wayyyy behind. I love what my kids have learned with MM and with my younger two we now skip a lot of problems to stay on grade level. If we run into issues we just slow down and do more of the problems. My eighth grader is now using TT but learned so much with MM.

  6. Heart of Dakota has some nice lit lists we have used.

My reluctant oldest really took off with chapter books in the 5th grade. We had read the Great Brain series (8 books) aloud a few years earlier. I assigned him the first book and he just took off. I know they aren't short but each chapter is a story within itself.

He also really loved the Rick Riordan Lightening Thief series. Athough those were a bit longer, they captivated him.

I have seen a big jump in reading ability between 4th and 5th grade with my boys.

    Good luck!
