How about Ammon?
-
I just keep getting the same message about the camera possibly being temporarily unavailable.
-
I think the kids and I need an intervention. We have spent the last week staring at the backside of a giraffe!
I dunno maybe they need to let Walter over to "help" things progress?;)
-
I'm currently working through this book. Anyone else read this? Thoughts?
I have found myself re-reading several sections before moving on. Giving me a lot to ponder!
-
I just found these yesterday! I also recommend this site, http://www.mycatholicfaithdelivered.com/Home.aspx I found it was a great addition to our homeschool.
-
They are very common here (panhandle of Fl).

Just in case you are like me, and can't find the magazine ;)
-
Oh good! Here's the link to the article http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/print/2011/12/king-james-bible/nicolson-text

I remember a few months back maybe, National Geographic magazine (the smaller thick magazine with yellow trim)...I think this is the magazine. Anyways, it was on the front page about the King James bible, and how it came about. I actually saved the magazine. I will look, and see what I can find. Honestly, I was quite suprised as to how it came about. 6 men I believe privately interpreting, making the language flow, and then coming together to discuss.

I have used this. My oldest had the whole kit...five children later I am down to just the blue books. I think they are great, and helped my children reading quickly. I made up games with the words in each section of the book, had them as spelling words, wrote on white boards, etc.

So very happy for you...and a wee bit jealous ;)

Want to come to Fl and sponsor another family?? ;)

I conceived my fifth dc, while nursing my 11 mos ds. He was eating solid foods at this point. I also conceived my sixth dc, while nursing my 6 mos dd. I hadn't started my cycle, and she hadn't been introduced to solids, yet.

Mouse, at least I know I am not alone on how I feel about this!

To be honest I am not sure. I believe that some may be the traditional songs, but when the band is playing it is hard to tell. Mass ends with the "clapping song", everyone walks outside to this. I do notice some older parishioners slip out before the clapping starts.
-
The other parish in town is similar. Not enough of a difference to justify the drive. I think my dh and I are going to visit the parish an hour away. Maybe, the kids can continue the midweek youth group with their friends? Our old parish was not TLM, but it was wonderful. I honestly didn't know that Mass could be so contemporary. No hymnals, the songs are on put on the wall with a projector...I suppose that would be helpful if you are juggling a baby :) I know the RCIA director shared, that they were going to start a children's service during Mass....

We have just recently moved, and live in a pre-dominantly Catholic neighborhood, very near to the Parish. Our children enjoy attending mass, and they attend a youth group during the week also ( we live in the "bible belt" and the church didn't want them attending another church during the week)...
Here is the situation, mass here is very contemporary. They have a band, lots of clapping, hand holding, more modern music, and they don't burn incense. These are just a few things off the top of my head, now with that being said, the homily is wonderful. Honestly though, I do squirm in my seat. I'm not a clapper, lol.
Thoughts please? Our intentions are to attend RCIA here, however @ an hour away is a Parish with Latin mass/traditional services.
Fwiw, my dh feels similar BUT feels convenience is important, too. Is there a happy medium? Thank you.

Four Witnesses: The Early Church in Her Own Words (Rod Bennett) , and The Mass of the Early Christians (Mike Aquilina), may be of help.
-
My dh and I are beginning RCIA, as well. Our children will come into the church at the same time we do. We are eager to begin the process. It has been very challenging getting to this point. My dh has been deployed, and attended mass overseas...I took the children stateside. This is something we wanted to do together, and finally have some stability! Fortunately, our parish is very understanding of military families, and are willing to work around crazy schedules :)

How would you pronounce this name? Is it like "pear", "peer", "purr" ?? Or maybe none of those are correct...Thank you, for your help!

My daughter is Annabel :) Of the choices you gave I would choose Anabelle.

I am looking for some insight on homeschoolers that have participated in ps sports. My son would like to play football again this fall, and he is too old for the youth league. From my understanding he can participate with the middle schoolers?
Any other information about homeschooling in Fl, would be greatly appreciated!

Gout perhaps? Medication and dietary changes, if so.
-
With your children, without children? Is it part of your homeschooling day?
I ask, because well...I always feel like I am the "only" one. I would like to take my children to mass during the week. I just feel like I am the "only" one that would, kwim? Yes, I know that feeling this way is probably ridiculous, lol.
Thank you, for your patience!
Marriage fail poll

Jumping in here. I know a fair amount of couples that were involved in affairs, that did not end the marriage. I also know a fair amount of couples that one or both spouses had an affair, and the marriage ended. With that being said, the affair was not necessarily the defining moment when the marriage had ended. Many, many other issues were involved, the affair was just a part of the decision to divorce. I've seen strong marriages, have' weak moments," in difficult times. This does not = divorce whatsoever.
Everyone's story is different. In my world having an affair is not automatic grounds for a divorce. When a divorce happens, many, many issues were involved long before the affair. Clear as mud? ;)
