  1. Thanks for showing the writing sample! I think I'll have to buy it! Anyone here have one for sale?
  2. Thank you, Paula & BlessedMom! Those 3 points are very helpful. I joined the yahoo group and think that teaching the phonics sounds as he learns cursive will be a good idea. And, I am concerned about my time commitment!
  3. Thank for your whole post, but this part was the best info for me! I think my son is a good reader and speller so far and needs a good challenge to stay on track and interested. Your perception of this make me even more convinced this is the right program for us!
  4. Does anyone use these two? Or one of these? If so, what do you think of these programs? My DS is 6 and a very good self taught reader, but he is a "whole word" reader and I need to go back and teach him phonics. We have taken off a few months (he was in public K) so I'm thinking of practicing cursive and phonics for a few weeks before we "start" homeschooling. They'll both be new to him, so he might like the challenge...
  5. I'm not familiar with this, but I have had great success finding books on ebay. Good luck!
  6. That's interesting. Do you think it will be the same in the new edition?
  7. I will start home schooling my DS in a couple of months after he completes Kindergarten at a public school. Of course I am researching like crazy, but really liked the info in The Well-Trained Mind. I am waiting for the newly revised edition to arrive before making my final decisions, but wanted to know what others are doing. Does anyone use all the recommendations in the book? I'd love to hear anyone and everyone weigh in.
