    Getty and Dubay Italic Handwriting Series Book G (Basic & Cursive) -- For 6th Grade and up. This is the 7th student book in the series and teaches both basic italic handwriting and cursive italic handwriting. The scale is slightly smaller than in the previous books. Teaches proper formation of the letters, proper slope and proper connection of letters in cursive. Italic handwriting is both beautiful and distinctive. Well worth the time and effort to develop. Excellent condition, no marks (We photocopied pages for practice) $ 9.00 postage paid. Getty and Dubay Italic Handwriting Series Instruction Manual, 3rd ed. -- for the teacher or an adult learner. Though directed at the classroom teacher, the book contains invaluable information for helping your student: pencil holds (yes, there's an alternate hold that corrects problem pencil grips), paper position, posture, goals for the student, and tips for special concerns--such as students with disabilities and left-handed writers. The book also contains special notes to teachers for each of the student books A-G, and special section on helping students learn to read looped cursive. At the back there is a section of ruled pages in each of the different sizes that can be photocopied for practice. I have a handful of photocopies of these that I will include with the book.     Editor in Chief C1 and C2, from The Critical Thinking Company. For grades 9-12+ These are the most advanced of the Editor in Chief series. Each book contains 33 exercises--articles that contain a number of grammar, punctuation and usage errors for the student to find. Answers to all the exercises are in a section starting at the middle of the book, and a grammar and usage guide can be found at the back. Great preparation for standardized tests.     Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam, 2nd edition, by Mark Howell and Martha Montgomery A comprehensive preparation program for the AP Calculus Exams (both AB and BC). We got it based on the many positive reviews about its being thorough. It's a thick (1 inch) book, covering all the AB and BC Calculus concepts, so I recommend starting it early enough before the test to fit it into your schedule. We didn't start the book until a couple weeks before the test, and there just wasn't time for my daughter to work through and study it well. Like New condition, no marks. $12 postage paid.     Lightning Literature & Composition - British Medieval Literature, by Michael Gaunt (from Hewitt Homeschooling Resources, now called Hewitt Learning) Recommended for upper high school. This is an excellent course in reading and responding to British literature from the Middle Ages (circa 500 - 1500 AD.) The introduction to the course includes guidance and tips on how to write a college-level paper. Then, each unit covers a different work, with focus on a literary element that is prominent in the work. The unit begins with an historical introduction to the work and why it is significant, gives guidance on what to look for as you read, and includes comprehension questions for the reading, an extensive literary lesson, and finally, writing suggestions for a paper. The appendices contain schedules for making this a semester-long or year-long course. Additional books needed for the course: Beowulf (any edition; we liked the Seamus Heaney one), Piers the Ploughman (I would probably get the Penguin Classics edition), Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (any edition), and The Canterbury Tales (the course recommends the Signet Classics edition; Rainbow Resource Center has this for a good price.) The rest of the selections are contained within the curriculum. It appears Hewitt Learning no longer carries this course, so this is a unique opportunity to get it. 😉 We enjoyed it.
