  1. EKS, can you expand on that a little bit? I have several teacher friends who have recommended it to me and they say they used it for their own 3/4 year olds and didn't suggest any problems with it. I definitely want to get a balanced perspective! ETA: What phonics program do you suggest? Ellie, writing is our biggest issue. He is not very good yet- just getting the hang of fine motor skills and gets frustrated if he can't write a letter correctly. We are going to start get set for school in the fall (HWT) and I think that will help. Would you say it'd be fine to skip the letter writing altogether in 100 EZ since he will be working on that later and because that is our biggest roadblock during lessons? He loves the rest of the lesson- just not the writing!
  2. I am doing 100 easy lessons with my 3.5 year old- he is loving it. I was originally planning on doing the AAR pre-reading level this year (it will be his pre-K year) as a fun way to learn reading. He is very motivated and wants to learn, knows his letter sounds since about 18 months, is sounding out short words, etc. Anyway, the cost was a bit of a turn-off for me with the pre-reading level, so for the time being I bought 100 easy lessons. If we finished 100 easy lessons successfully, is the pre-AAR level necessary? Or would we pick up with level one? Or a different level? Is 100 easy lessons a good start to a reading program? Has anyone had success with it? We are only on lesson 5, but he seems to really like it and he seems to be thriving off of the way it teaches- and I'm thriving off of the scripted part for me to read! :)
