  1. You're probably right about the Abeka 3. They're in grades 3 and 4 right now, but it does seem quite simple. I wonder if it would be too challenging to just jump to level 5. Maybe we could start level 4 over the summer first....? I'll look into vacab programs and treasured conversations! Thanks so much!
  2. Of course not every subject everyday! However, I think that is why things are not getting done at all! Originally we assigned Science on Wed and Fri and Social Studies on Tues and Thurs. It just seems like the other subjects are taking way too long, that we never get to those on their day....they end up getting skipped. I suppose I'll just have to stop them after a certain amount of time, and move on...and pick up where we left off the next day. I just hate stopping half way through a lesson! haha I just want to get it done! I will do a search for schedule threads! I'm going to have 4 doing school next year with 2 toddlers at my feet...this may be a challenge!! Thanks so much!
  3. Did you make those lesson practice worksheets yourself? Or can they be purchased somewhere? I like the idea!! My kids just do their work in the book...if theres not enough room they grab a piece of paper... I love the warm up idea as bedtime math! I might try to give that a shot! Thank you so much for you response!
  4. Ok...so I need help. And you are all so smart :) I have an 8 year old and 10 year old. All we've done this year for language arts is: Abeka Language 3 book...which we all really enjoy. Abeka cursive 1 book Apples and Pears Spelling Reading (whatever books I can get them to read) We've done the 1st 3 units of E.I.W I don't think this is enough...it seems very lacking. I tried using FLL and WWE a couple years ago, but didn't really "get it" and found it took a long time. However, now that I've been at this homeschooling thing now for a couple years I think I see the benefits of those programs. If I were to do FLL and WWE next year, which level would I start with and what else would I need to add in for a complete language arts curriculum? Or should I just keep doing what I am? Thanks so much!!
  5. This is what I would like to cover with my 10 and 8 year old starting in September. Am I missing anything? How on Earth do I get that all done??? We're using Saxon Math and it takes almost an hour..actually I bet if I actually timed them, it takes them longer than an hour (and we only do odds/evens). Math Science Religion Social Studies Grammar Spelling Reading Piano E.I.W cursive practice Latin (?)
  6. Yes!!! My kids love this show! I remember there was this one episode where they learned that shampoo used to be made with pee (or something like that) and they called it Shampee on the show. My kids were like, "eeewww that's so gross!!!" lol then I asked them what they thought our shampoo is made with now...shamPOO....haha (obviously not true) but the look on their faces was priceless!
