  1. Thank you for your reply! I might try AP World History next year with PAH. I'm still trying to decide about this year.
  2. My 10th grader (15 in Sept.) wants to try to do an AP class. She is not a good test taker, but she wants to try one. I was thinking of AP Psychology only because I was told it was one of the easiest out of all of them. I know it isn't going to be easy though! I'm actually scared! She is my 1st high schooler. Human Geography just doesn't sound interesting to her. Should I do PA Homeschoolers or Virtual School? I was thinking with Virtual School she can always drop out if she has to and we wouldn't be out any money. Any suggestions welcomed!!! Her strength is math, so she is not ready for an AP in that subject. Please help!
  3. Lori D, Can I also ask what curriculum do you use for history? Literature and History are the 2 subjects that I have not found the perfect curriculum for. My weak area is writing so I am going to try Brave Writer. I use Apologia for science and next year try virtual school for AP Biology. I will continue Saxon for Advanced Math using Art Reed DVDs. I feel that I did not do a good job with her 9th grade year and only want to do 6 credits so we can make up for it next year. I am so lost with the high school thing so I really appreciate the help and all the effort in your last post!! Thank you!
  4. Thank you Lori D! That helped a lot!!! I have not done an online class because I am always afraid that it might not be what she needs. For example, too easy or too difficult. Do you know of any that are short term and not an entire year?
  5. Lori D, What other resources do you use? I have a 9th grader this year and wanted more other than PP for next year. I like some of it. She needs a lot of deeper thinking questions and literary analysis without me reading it. I have 2 other children to teach also and can't read everything!
  6. I need an American Literature online course for 10th grade for my dd. I would like to do a full credit course in one semester if that is possible. If not, that is okay. We completed World Literature with My Fathers World, but I felt she didn't write enough and stories took her too long to read. I think she would read it faster if she had better accountability. Does anyone have any recommendations?
  7. Thank you very much for all the information. It really helped me feel better. She is 14 and completing 9th grade. I wanted to try to start working on it, so I can work on improving her score. I know she is not ready for some college classes, but I feel she would do okay in a math class in the spring of her 10th grade. I know reading comprehension is a problem for her and I don't know where to begin. Is there an English curriculum that you recommend that would help her with inference, analyzing, tone, ect? We both are great at math.
  8. My daughter took the pert test and passed the math without even studying, but needs help with the reading and writing. She has retaken it several times, but can not pass it. Should I find a tutor? If not, what should we use to study? I have homeschooled her from the beginning and feel like I have failed her. She really wants to do dual enrollment. Please help!
  9. Can I skip MFW Ancients because she has had study ancient history already and move on to World History?
  10. Thank you so much! I have never really needed so much help on this topic, but high school does scare me! I will check Omnibus out. I haven't decided on a literature curriculum until I figure out what I'm doing for history. This has really consumed me lately and love the feedback!
  11. I am trying to decide between SWB's Ancient or MFW. My dd is going to be in 9th grade and I'm new at this forum. I really need some advice! If there are other ones that might be better, please post! I have 2 other dd that will be in 7th and 5th next year.
