  1. Eternalsummers description of feeling big or small reminded me of a teen with diagnosed bipolar that I worked with. She would describe that while she was lying in bed, especially in the dark, her hands felt huge or she felt like she was a different size. Sometimes she said she felt like she was full of beanbag beans but she would also say she had moments of feeling like she was made out of legos.

She was the only teen with bipolar I ever worked with who described body sensation differences like this. She also had high levels of anxiety too. I always had the sneaky suspicion her diagnosis was not entirely accurate. Her hypo cycle met criteria but she always seemed to be able to maintain a rational presence even when her thoughts were all over the place. She never lost her ability to be logical about herself which isn't always the case with bipolar in those moments.

I don't have any (diagnosed) mental illnesses but I have that feeling from time to time. Ever since I can remember. It's usually my hands and arms feel WAY to big in space. I look at them and they look fine, but they don't feel fine. Its super weird.

  2. My cats are often on the counter and the dining table. It doesn't really bother me, and DH is slowly getting over it. My kitchen has three main counter tops, a bar with the sink, an island, and the run by the stove top. I don't mind them on the bar area as much because I rarely prep food there. But I try to discourage them on the other two areas. And I definitely run them off if I am actively cooking. I just wipe the counters and table down often and I am not at all a germaphobe.

  3. I have a Toto Washlet seat on my toilet. It is everything. The seat is heated, and the heat level is adjustable (it can even be set to only heat during hours in which you are most likely to use it.) Upon sitting down, the seat pre-sprays the bowl to help with "stickage." The bidet feature has a bum setting and a front setting for ladies. The pressure, heat and angle are all adjustable. It then as a dryer, which is also adjustable. And to top it all off, it has a feature that remembers two separate users settings so all you have to do is press 1 or 2.

I have Crohn's disease which leads to all sorts of bathroom issues and this thing is a total lifesaver. When I told DH I wanted it when we were building our house, he thought I was crazy but he LOVES it also. I highly, highly recommend!!

  4. I have an iPhone7 that had touch screen issues. It just completely stopped working one day. I mean, COMPLETELY unresponsive. Since it was less than a year old, Apple warranty fixed it, but I was without it for a week while I sent it back since I don't an Apple Store nearby. Apple acted like they had no clue what the problem was but it got fixed in the end. I hope that is not the problem with yours! Maybe try a hard reset?

  5. I drop darn near every single thing I pick up. One day, I was washing a nice, sharp Cutco chef's knife and dropped it. It landed, blade first, right in between my pinky and ring finger of my other hand. Why? Because silly me was trying to catch it.  :glare: It went as deep as possible in that area. I probably could have used stitches but I was at my dad's house and he was like, hey, I've got some Dermabond! Well, we attempted to doctor it up ourselves. The thing with Dermabond is that you want to get the edges of the cut pressed together and then the glue can hold it. That didn't work so well in between my fingers. In order to get the applicator in there, I had to spread my fingers open, which in turn, spread the cut open. So, the cut filled with the glue. By the next morning it hurt like crazy so I peeled the Dermabond off. Being stubborn, I just wrapped it up in gauze and taped my fingers together. Luckily, it did heal.

This one is a real doozy. It was the middle of the night in a new house and I had to go potty. It was dark in the room. In the old house, the doors were painted white against a darker colored wall. In the new house, the doors were painted dark grey against a lighter colored wall. Do you see where this is going? I walked straight into the door thinking it was open since the door area was dark. Hard. The same night I bashed my shins into the cedar chest at the foot of the bed which wasn't there in the old house. I ran into it on the way to the bathroom and on the way back.  :cursing:

  6. When we moved from Alaska to Texas, we packed and moved our stuff ourselves. I had the brilliant idea to number each box and then list the contents of each box in a notebook. Which would have worked beautifully had I actually brought said notebook with us. 😤 Luckily, my brother-in-law was moving into our house and he sent the notebook to us.

On that same move, about 2/3 of the way to our destination, we blew a tire on the enclosed trailer we were pulling with our belongings. We pulled over, changed the tire, and were about to get back on the road when a fire truck pulled up. Some one had seen us and reported smoke coming from our trailer. We hadn't really noticed, just thought it was from the tire. Well, the fire dept insisted on checking the trailer and sure enough the mattress we had on the wheel well was smoldering. The wall of the trailer was scorched. Had we started driving, we would have likely lost everything. We owe a great deal to some random person in Nebraska â¤ï¸

  7. After dealing with DD having urinary issues, one thing came up in a book I read that I hadn't heard before. Never, never, never withhold urine. According the the book, this is the reason baby girls in diapers don't get UTI's even with stool all around the sensitive part, but then once they are potty trained they do. Babies in diapers don't withhold. They go whenever the urge strikes. But after potty training, stopping activities to go potty is a pain so kids tend to wait. The book said that an empty bladder is less likely to grow bacteria, so frequent voiding is the key.

Adults are usually better at this but not always. Maybe women in the past were less likely to wait to urinate than modern women. Just a thought...

  8. Yep.

I remember once when I left an entire cart of groceries at the store. When I got home and discovered the error, I was just relieved that it wasn't one of the children who got left behind. I knew just how not out of the realm of possibilities that was.

When my youngest was a baby, I hit up a good sale on baby clothes. I got about half of her next size of clothes. When I got home, I cut all the tags off the clothes and put the clothes into one of the bags and the trash in the other. I then proceeded to throw the clothes away and take the tags to the laundry room. Of course, I didn't notice until after trash pick up.

  9. Thanks for all the replies. I think DD has chicken pox. She received both doses of the vaccine. It seems to be mild so far, I noticed the first three spots the day before yesterday. Then about 6 more last night and 3 more today. She doesn't have a fever or feel bad at all. Hopefully that will be the worst of it.

I first thought it was some sort of bug bites but the way they are just popping up doesn't make sense. And they look just like chicken pox.

  10. When DD was under one year I would get all the questions while out like how old is she, what's her name, ect.

I had this convo many, many times.

Stranger: Aww! She's so cute, what's her name.

    Me: June

Stranger: Oh! was she born in June?

    Me: Nope, July.

    Stranger: Ohhh....umm

Since when does a child with a month name have to have been born in that month? So many people were honestly thrown by this. She was named after her grandmother, people!

  11. In many states it is one to buy two to sell. Even if your name is not on the deed you have to sign when he sells.

I experienced that in the last house I had....I didn't even know dh when I bought it. When we sold it after we married he had to sign off on it.

Yes, to this. DH bought his first house before we were married, but I had to sign when we sold it after we were married.

  12. The Oregon version of this is you can't put the winter stuff away in summer! It's not quite that bad, but there are only a couple of months that you can wear shorts and short sleeves and not be cold part of the day. We've been in the 50's and low 60's with rain for all of April, and now Wed and Thurs it's supposed to hit 80! That will fry us--we're not acclimated yet. But back in the 60's by Friday.

Yes! I grew up in Alaska, same thing there. Layers, layers, layers! I don't know how my mom didn't lose her marbles with all the snow clothes everywhere!

  13. Very much not.

However, your dexterity (or sinistry, if you prefer!) will improve the more you use your other hand. In this way, handedness can be a bit of a vicious circle - you prefer to use a certain hand for some, most, or all tasks, so you do use that hand, so that hand becomes quite skilled at that task and the other one doesn't. If you use your left hand, it will become more skilled.

Since you seem to have trouble building this new habit, it might work better to tie your right hand or something. Just loosely, so you can use it if you want - but so you're reminded not to use it when you don't want to.

DH suggested I put a sock over my right hand to remind me to not use it when I vacuum.

  14. How much are you able to do with your non-dominant hand?

I am right-handed but have inflammatory arthritis in that hand. DH is always telling me to use my left hand for more tasks to help elevate some of my pain, but I can't seem to do much with my left hand. One of the big things that aggravate my hand is vacuuming. I try to use my left hand, but then end up switched back to my right, almost without my noticing. Same with most other tasks. I just can't seem to use my left hand proficiently.

I am just curious if it's just me, or are other just as gimpy with their non-dominant hand lol.

    Edited for spelling.
