I am going to use MCT Grammar Island and all of that; my question is this: should I supplement with one of the Latin curricula that I see on here? I don't know if a) it's even necessary; or b) will the MCT be enough?
I am pretty sure I want to push Latin - but would appreciate any input from the "old-timers" (no offense meant!) as to their thoughts.
T'anks!

This looks interesting...we're going to use Michael Clay Thompson, only because DD is extremely strong in this course. I did check into this initially, though, and it may be a little more driven to younger ages, it is certainly worth checking into, IMO:001_smile:
Does a young 4th grader really need to know sentence diagramming? All I remember is being in 7th grade trying to diagram sentences and being totally confused. It probably didn't help that I didn't know parts of speech. I'm more of a less is more kind of person. To be honest, sentence diagramming freaks me out. There's so much "I" don't know as a teacher. Language arts is NOT my strength.Beth

New to homeschooling, and am definitely not interested in joining a faith based group. Nothing personal; I just do not share that belief.
If there are any secular groups nearby, I would be extremely interested in meeting with you.
Thanks!

Yep - I sure did! And I got the response of "I'd rather buy her something she'd enjoy". She enjoys learning!!!
My dm and d m-i-l can hardly believe that's what I really wanted, but they obliged me. :)I asked for:
The SOTW 2 AG &
All Through the Ages - Christine Miller (I've wanted this one for sooo long.)

Both of my sisters are adopted, and my DH and his family can't seem to get it through their heads that being adopted does not matter to us: they are my SISTERS. Whenever it comes up, they always throw in something about well, they're not blood though, right?
I hate that. I would phone her up and say "hey thanks for the gift! Loved it. However, don't love the note."
Br*astfeeding question?

I used both breasts when feeding - only because I wanted to keep my supply up. I think the "standard" (if there IS one) is 5-10 minutes on one, and then switch. You might check on La Leche's web site or ask your pediatrician...hope that helps somewhat. I miss breastfeeding...
