  1. If you are applying to many schools, how do you get your recommendation letters sent to each school? Is this part of the Common App? What if the schools you are applying to do not use the Common App? I would hope to ask for each letter only once so we don't have to bother the person writing the recommendations. I just don't know how this is done.

  2. I used to coupon much more than I do now. I just don't have the time. However, there are coupons for healthy products. I have about 20 lbs of organic carrots that I got for free as well as a bunch of organic lettuce. I also have a couple of cases of organic tomato paste and diced tomatoes that I also got for free. Coupons are great for HBA and cleaning products. I am tired of hearing that couponers are unhealthy and overweight. We try to eat mostly healthy foods and no one in my house is overweight. Just don't use those coupons for the processed food. By the way, I also have about 10 lbs of cheddar cheese that I bought for $1lb using coupons (Cabot).

We also do all the other stuff like buying in season, stocking up, cooking from scratch, etc

  3. We just got a new dishwasher after our old one finally broke. It works so much better. Everything comes out clean, and I do not pre-rinse. I should have bought a new one several years ago. I personally would not want to hand wash all of our dishes because my hands crack and bleed during the winter. It is very painful.

BTW, the dishwasher we bought was not an expensive model. I just can't believe how well it works.

  4. My kids are big eaters and I have no problem getting them to eat enough of the other food groups. They just know that it is a requirement to eat fruits/vegetables with their other food. She wanted to know how to get them to eat them. I am not trying to tell you all how to feed your kids. Also, sometimes I just give them half an apple or a few pieces of carrots, not an entire plateful.

  5. Congratulations!!! What wonderful news!! ''

I am wondering though. I am thinking of sending my 8th grader to high school next year for sports. How did your dd receive athletic scholarships?

Here, homeschooled students are not allowed to play on school teams. It seems really hard for homeschooled students to receive sports scholarships.

  6. I am wondering if any of you have experience sending dc to school when they did not want to go. My dd (12) does not want to go, but she makes life here unbearable for the rest of us. She yells, throw things, etc. She has been difficult for us since pre-K, but behaves great for other people. I have had her in counseling, but the counselor has not had any more impact than I have in helping her to control her temper. I have an evaluation scheduled for her through the school district. It might be due to depression so I am looking into finding a child psychiatrist at the recommendation of the counselor and Md. I am also looking into art therapy for her at a nearby college.

I am hesitant to send her to school. I don't want to alienate her from the family. However, I can't take it anymore and it is not fair to the other kids. I am sinking deep into depression myself, and I don't know what to do. All the other options take so long to figure out, and I am having a hard time making it through each day. Any ideas are welcome. Thank you.
