  1. I have been away for awhile, and unemployed as a hs teacher-mom since the June graduation of my baby.

I am now reading book 53: A Christmas Carol. This is the first time in 3 years that I have actually made the 52 book challenge!

Is there any way to access the old forum which had the 2011 and 2012 52 Book challenge? Our book group is compiling lists for next year, and I can't find my personal lists of books read those years.

Wishing a peaceful Christmas season to all of you!

  2. I haven't been around much this past year. I have been dealing with the results of Mom's fall down the stairs, caring for her, her decline and death in April, and my diagnosis of MS that same month. Whew! I am finally getting the breather I need now to go through my grieving. Not everything has been "bad stress" this past year, though: I got to see my Alaska "mom and dad," youngest just graduated, daughter getting married next month, and grandbaby #5 coming in August. God has blessed me greatly this past year.

Anyway, with my MS, I need to get more organized, and wondered if an iPhone might help: I would have a cell phone; I could carry my calendar and to-do list with me; it would be pocket size. I already use an iPad. If not an iPhone, do you have any suggestions?

  3. 1961 here and I did not know what they were. Apparently my sisters and I were ahead of the game because our pink record player (which I still have and use from time to time), has a center piece that popped up for the 45s.

Now that I am officially the oldest respondent, I believe I will go dust off my old faithful record player and sing along to some Partridge Family classics.

Ha Ha!!! Not quite: I was born in '59!

I grew up with those, though they weren't that fancy.

  4. I am no longer dealing with Amazon for personal reasons. I have a 2nd gen. Kindle and Kindle Fire. Now I am looking at Nooks.

Do I have to buy a Nook in order to buy Nook books? I have the Nook app on my iPad.

I would probably look at getting the Nook Simple Touch. Has anyone tried the Simple Touch with GlowLight? What do you think?

Should I wait to see how the Nook HD and Nook HD+ get reviewed by real users before I consider buying one?

    Thanks for helping me.

  5. 19yo daughter is SUPER excited. She has always wanted to serve a mission and was bemoaning having to wait two more years. This change came as a blessing, as she has been having difficulty the past few months choosing two different and desired career paths with schooling. Now she happily knows which path to take, and it isn't either of those . . . . Right now, anyway. :)

  6. We are in Michigan and have flown Airtran numerous times. They are eseentially the same as Delta. If you can stand Delta, you won't have a problem with Airtran. It is Joe-basic service, no frills. But the plane is clean and they tend to run on time. Their crew is actually usually friendlier and more helpful by a noticeable margin than Delta out of the same airport.

    Another Michigander here. :iagree:
